Fairytopia Barbie – A Neverending List!

Of all of the Barbie lines, the most inventive dolls, at least in my person opinion, are those released under the Fairytopia name, regardless whether or no they are actually connected to the movies, the last of which was released in 2007, not counting the spinoff ‘Mariposa’ movies, which don’t actually use the ‘Fairytopia’ name.

The Fairytopia-branded dolls tend to be the ones with unnatural hair colours (which I love) and unusual face paint (which I LOVE) and occasionally strange and awesome gimmicks or features (Which I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!). I’m gonna try and collect all of the dolls under the Fairytopia name in this here post, as I haven’t seen a list for all of them anywhere else (there aren’t many post-70s Barbie lists to begin with). To start with, here are my favourite pair that I’ve found so far, mainly for how amazingly beautiful and unusual they are ❤

This is ‘Barbie Fairytopia – New Glowing Fairy: Jewelia‘ as per her Amazon listing, or ‘Crystal Fairy Jewelia’ as I’ve seen other call her. She is amazingly pretty, I love her translucent fading limbs, blue-streaked hair and big anime-esque eyes. There’s just something… magical about her and her sweet smiling face :3 Also, she lights up, she comes with an extra fashion, she’s incredibly sparkly and she’s BLUE! She’s like a dream come true for me ❤

Jewelia’s pink sister, Crystal, is simply called ‘Crystal Fairytopia Barbie‘ but she is no less gorgeous! She reminds me greatly of Bubble Belles dolls, particularly Flora (who I own, albeit in dreadful shape). As pretty as she is, holy heck there are some pretty angry Amazon reviews! Apparently the limbs of these girls are made of brittle plastic, as opposed to rubbery plastic like most Barbies, and they’ve been trod on, causing limbs to snap off. Who on earth stands on Barbies in the first place though?! Even when I was tiny it didn’t happen, even with a younger sister – several fragile and extremely brittle sets of plastic doll fairy wings which remain in perfect shape are testament to this.

Joybelle here is a ‘Fairytopia Wonder Fairy‘, something I have no idea as to the meaning. She looks to come with a little rolled-up sheet of something and a little card of some kind. I like her shimmery blue arm tattoos and her sassy expression, but do wish she had ice-blue hair instead of blonde, oh well….. She really looks kinda like a sassy fairy Elsa to me.

Kindlee (KIN-d-LEE or ‘Kindly’?) is also a ‘Wonder Fairy’, although her listing reads ‘Barbie Fairytopia – Yellow Jeweldrop Wonder Fairy Doll – Kindlee‘. Maybe ‘jeweldrop’ is referencing the translucent bodice of her dress? It’s also interesting to note that these girls come with their own tiny fairy – pixie, maybe? I’m just going to go with the idea that it’s their own bastard offspring, half fairy and half gnome, to account for their tiny stature.

The final ‘Wonder Fairy’ is apparent warrior princess Lenara, or ‘Barbie Fairytopia Wonder Fairy (Style=B5762:Lenara)‘, again as per her Amazon listing. Why the numerical designation? I guess she and her fellow Wonder Fairies shipped together, and this was the UPC to distinguish her? The comments are full of people raging about her ‘skimpy outfit’ and ‘tattoos’, as per usual and a few screeching children. Nothing out of the ordinary for Barbie. I probably like Lenara the least out of the line, as purple isn’t a very flattering colour on us redheads in my opinion (yes, I am ginger hellspawn also~) and she’s just kinda boring to me. If she and Joybelle swapped outfits, I’d be all over her though :3

Now this girl here is probably one of the most well-known and recognisable Fairytopia dolls produced. Made to tie in with the first movie, and never given an official name, she is ‘Pink Sparkle Fairytopia Fairy‘ and, although simple, I love her for her unusual coloration, with cerise-pink hair and strawberry-milk skin. I don’t even mind her printed-on top, it’s iridescent and pretty, and not some kind of chunky moulded thing like some of the EQG dolls have.

It’s Pink’s palette-swapped identical twin, ‘Lavender Sparkle Fairytopia Fairy‘! These girls are pretty much identical aside from the shape of the neckline on their top. You can tell these are early dolls are their wings are gauze fabric with thin wire boning to make them stand out, like handmade faerie dolls, and the generic ribbon roses on their skirts are kinda old-timey crafty too. Still absolutely gorgeous, and I consider her the older sister/evolved form of Shim’R (from Barbie in a Fashion Fairytale) XD

Ack! It kinda pains me that I don’t own the gorgeous ‘Aqua Sparkle Fairytopia Fairy‘, who is my absolute favourite out of the three. She’s uniquely pretty with her blue skin, aqua hair and blue lipstick (heck yeah! I love me some blue lipstick!) and would look stunning if redressed in something slightly less monochrome and cheap-looking. Overall, I want her, please give her to me XD
